1.Running-In of a New or Overhauled Engine
When the new engine or has been overhauled, before running it in full load condition,It must run for 60h.
Running-in condition and change its oil thereafter to improve its moving parts working condition and its reliability and service life.
The way of running-in varies from one engine application and loading manner to another. In principle, engine speed and load in running-in process will be increased gradually with the running-in going on. Load should be 50%-80% of its full load, and speed should not exceed 80% of its rated speed. If the engine is for generator sets with constant speed, it is allowed to run-in at rated speed. However, longtime running at idle or with too small load at the beginning of running-in is not recommended.
Whenever cylinder liners, pistons, piston rings, connecting rod bearings and crankshafts are replaced, short-term running-in should be carried out appropriately according to the above running-in conditions.
2.Normal use of diesel engine
After the diesel engine is put into normal use, you should always pay attention to the indication values of all instruments and observe the dynamics of the whole machine; always check the cooling system and the liquid level of each part of the lubricating oil. If you find any non-compliance or leakage, you should give supplement or check the reason to be ruled out.
During operation, especially when the load is suddenly reduced, care should be taken to prevent the speed of the diesel engine from suddenly increasing due to the failure of the governor. When such a situation occurs, emergency measures should be taken quickly, and then check again, clear the reason.
3.Diesel fuel
The diesel specification used by the diesel engine should comply with the national standard GB 252-2011 for ordinary diesel. Select the fuel grade according to the ambient temperature. In low temperature environments in winter, diesel with low freezing point should be used, and summer is the opposite. The fuel grade selection can be recommended according to the GB 252-2011 standard, and the user can also recommend the following table
Recommended selection: For example, when the ambient temperature is -27°C, -35 diesel should be used.
The relationship between diesel grades and applicable minimum temperature: | ||||
Diesel grades | No. 0 | No. -10 | No. -20 | No. -35 |
Cetane number | ≥45 | ≥45 | ≥45 | ≥45 |
Condensation point/℃ | ≤0 | ≤-10 | -20 | -35 |
Applicable minimum temperature (diesel engine working environment temperature/℃) | 4℃ above | -5℃ above | -14℃ above | -29℃ above |
4. Coolant:
In order to ensure the normal operation and long life of the diesel engine, please use organic (antifreeze) coolant under any climatic conditions. The coolant has the characteristics of anti-freezing, anti-corrosion, good thermal conductivity, good stability, and environmental protection.
Name | Freezing point/℃ | Boiling point/℃ |
Organic (antifreeze) coolant | -45 | 108 |
Note: When the diesel engine is used as the main and auxiliary power of the ship, it is absolutely not allowed to directly cool the diesel engine with sea water as the coolant.
5. Power matching of diesel engine and working machinery:
When choosing a diesel engine, the user should not only consider the power required by the supporting working machinery, but also the load rate of the working machinery, such as intermittent use or continuous use. At the same time, the operating economy of the working machine must be considered, that is, the working characteristics of the load and the characteristics of the diesel engine must be reasonably distributed. Therefore, the correct calibration of the diesel engine power and the reasonable matching of the characteristics of the diesel engine and the working machinery are the prerequisites to ensure the reliable, long-life and economic operation of the diesel engine. Otherwise, the diesel engine may be overloaded and cause unnecessary failures; or the load power is too small, Diesel engine power cannot be fully utilized, which is uneconomical and causes maladies such as oil leakage.
